Our Breeding Dogs

Lou Anne is tall, lanky, and our most athletic girl. Her body confirmation is stunning and everything a breeder would look for in a dog. She is a wonderful mentor, and has become a rule setter and dominant force in helping to discipline and guide puppies, pack members, and livestock when they become disgruntled. She has a regal demeanor and is not easily distracted. While she is sweet to her humans she doesn’t overly demand attention in favor of doing her job and tending to her livestock. She matured quickly into her guardian role and has proven to be very reliable trustworthy. She heavily exhibits characteristics from her mostly Abruzzo heritage.

Esther is the epitome of intelligence and sharp senses. She has developed into an even more amazing guardian than her mother Bobbie Joe who is an absolutely legendary guardian. Esther will be the future of our breeding male bloodline so we capture her amazing instincts in future generations. She is strong and compact and will withstand the most unpleasant conditions to complete her daily mission to ensure the safely of her livestock. She is a quintessential guardian that most people only dream of having on their team. Esther’s genetics are mostly descendant from the Abruzzo bloodline but she does exhibit some slight characteristics of the Maremmano bloodline as well.

Gertrude is a tall large bodied girl just like her mother, Ladybird. She has both large frame and muscle on her side. She is an alert, ferocious protector and immensely loyal to her humans and livestock. Her extreme loyalty has made her less stubborn than the average livestock guardian dog. While she can be a playful girl at times she makes sure to use her energy appropriately around livestock.

Rigel is a big ole sweet heart and wouldn’t hurt a fly, unless that fly is a threat to his livestock. He is a hard worker and uses his skills intelligently. He is very attentive to newborn livestock without being overbearing and will always ensure there are no predators anywhere near them while they are getting their legs underneath them. As the perfect right hand man, he doesn’t bother to jockey for power in a dog pack. He is far too concerned with doing his job and pleasing his masters to care about dog pack politics. He also loves mud and going for an occasional swim across the pond. Rigel exhibits physical characteristics which are heavily leaning toward his Maremmano heritage.

Duke is a double dew claw full-blood Great Pyrenees whose pedigree is from France, the homeland of the Great Pyrenees. Duke is our most attentive dog who wants nothing more than to please you and protect his home territory. He is a gentle giant who tolerates anything from pecking chickens, to squirming piglets, or bouncing goats. Duke has a derpy lovable disposition but when it’s time to get serious he is a formidable opponent. As the alpha and “big guns” of the team, he is a powerful protector and solid guardian. With this boy on duty you can be sure aerial predators won’t bother your flock. At the sight of any large winged bird he will charge full throttle the entire length of the property. Duke enjoys spending most of his time with the chickens but periodically checks-up on the sheep and cattle as well. Duke does not exhibit a propensity to roam off property which qualifies him for our breeding program.
